You're more than welcome junglist...
I was only meant to be getting 1 kitten,... the one on the bottom, Leo (na)
I most definitely wasn't meant to be getting the top one, Porsche (ds1 wanted to call her lamborghini, this was a compromise grin )
She is the runt.. she's tiny, has ear mites galore, a dodgy tummy, plus she's white with blue eyes which gives her an 80% chance of being deaf..
But she looked soo pitiful, I had to bring her home.
dh wasn't impressed...
but my boys think I'm wonderful grin

they are gorgeous. Are they Tonkinese/ Siamese? I noticed the pointing.

They're farm cats D'id.. I was given them by a local farmer but I thought they had a slightly oriental look as well. I hope so, because that means the deafness gene isn't there in the white/blue combo.

If they do have Siamese, be prepared for very vocal little onesgrin

Oh they are babes!

What is the eye colour of the bottom one? Looks very sultry.

green, Jux...
that one is really gorgeous in RL...
the blue eyes are so pale and vivid it's a pretty strange look.
Funnily enough she is very vocal, so I'm thinking she might well have oriental roots.
Anyone got any idea how to check hearing on kitten?
They're seeing the vet on thursday but I've spent the day clapping at random intervals..she doesn't respond.

feel incredibly broody now!

Ingles2 Mon 09-Nov-09 21:58:22

me too mitchy...
I'm a sucker for any sort of baby grin

Does the other one respond to your clapping? I've no idea what it means tbh, and I would wait until the vet's seen them.

I have an aunt who always had deaf white cats. They had great lives; she lived right out in the countryside, not too many cars about, and easy access to fields/woods. Deafness didn't seem too much of a problem to any of them.

Not very scientific - but it works blush - method to check hearing...

Wait until kitten is very interested in something it's playing with, and not paying attention to you, then sniff (loudly) behind it - if all four feet leave the floor at once and the kitten gives you a disdainful look they are not deaf grin
