When do kittens learn to retract their claws???

cos my feet are getting shredded .

Had our kitten (8 weeks old) for just over a week and am pleased that he has settled in well even with the DCs terrorising playing with him. He seems very confidant and will pounce on anybodys feet and his party trick is climbing all the way up my leg with his claws ripping me to shreds if I stand in the same spot for long enough.

His claws seems to be permanently out and he likes biting hands but does not press hard.

Will he learn to put his claws in or do I have them surgically removed (only joking)!!

If he is climbing up you his claws are not going to be retracted - he is using them to grip! Sounds like pretty normal kitten behaviour to me. Have you got any cat toys for him you can use - sticks with toys on you can wiggle for him to chase etc - hopefully will divery his attention to those instead of your legs and feet longer term.

lol we had that!! Ooh the pain! Don't you dare move them while your in bed, as he will get under the cover and shred all night quite happily. Nightmare. Think they grow out of it by about 7 years old
