Started the policy last year and was paying £11 per month. New policy arrives this morning and it has gone up to £14 per month! Am hoping it doesnt increase by this much every year- the dog is only 2yrs old!
Am with M&S by the way.

We were with pet plan,it started at £22,by the time my Shar-pei passed away 9yrs later it was £68

That's very cheap. I would check the coverage it gives you.

BEEN QUOTED £89 a month to insure a Newfie,if that rises like the Shar-pei will have to put the kids up the chimneys to pay for it

We insured our Rotty with Equine & Life when we first bought him 8 years ago. It cost about £12.00/m. but increased over the years to this year-£28. We adopted our son's rotty recently and a search for pet insurance for him gave the same company as a best buy. Asked for a quote for both dogs-£13.95 each-same cover as we were getting for £28. Cancelled this policy and took out a new one.

Also, do insurance companies refuse to insure your dog once they pass a certain age?

I have both my labs insured with tesco for £13 per month and that includes £2500 for vets fees, you can increase it to £5000, but we never did.

I think it is a fair price, we recently claimed and they payed not, with not a hitch at all.

The other very good insurance company is NFU, which I have my horse insured with, and they are really good, but more expensive, but will not quibble a genuine claim.

We have our cat and lab puppy insured with Tesco. £13 a month for both and the cat is old!

Never bothered with insurance when we just had the cat but after getting the puppy thought we needed it. Had to shop around for a good deal, some quoted £60 plus a month.

We are covered upto £2500 vets fees plus other benefits.

Look at what it covers too, my dog insurance (tesco) had gone up to £20, so I rang them, we've taken off the holiday covers (we usually camp) and hospitalised owner cover, and theft/straying cover and its down to £12. Still covered for vets fees for life of dog, accidental death and 3rd party. Well worth looking into.
