Where did you buy your dog crate from?

We've decided that we need to get a crate for our 1year old labrador cross so she will have her own space (and be able to get away from the children). She currently has the utility room as 'her' room but it is unheated and is getting very cold (and during the day I don't want to leave the door into the utility open as it makes the rest of the house cold.
So....where is the best place to buy a crate from (I've seen them on ebay) and are there any features I should look out for?

My Mum bought one for her little corgi cross when he had a car accident (she ran him over!). She got hers from Argos, as far as I know.

Oh, and another question - how do you know what size crate you need? Do I need to measure the dog or just guess? She is a cross-breed so I don't know if she's finished growing or what size she may end up.

www.doghealth.co.uk/dh.htm - we ordered ours from here.

It was for a very large dog so we had the largest size and it's great - really sturdy.

The only drawback is it does dominate the room, luckily it fits neatly in a corner of our 2nd living room, but in our old house it was a pain in the neck.

We do have a smaller one that was used when we had a very ill rescue cat. I think it was fron the local petshop, but it isn't half as well made and certainly wouldn't take the scrabbling of a boisterous dog.

Thanks NomDePlume and othersideofthefence.

Have looked at the website, and they do look very sturdy. The Argos ones have a plastic tray rather than metal which I am not sure will cope with a 25kg dog..who is likely to chew.
I have measured up and think a 42inch crate should fit her, and will fit in a snug quiet spot under our stairs.

Cheap one for the house from ebay and for the car custom made by hamsterbaskets.

Got our three from argos, then sold them on when finished with.

Wow - hamsterbaskets dog pods look rather fab - but not sure I'd be able to persuade dh to spend that much!
Think we will go for a metal trayed type from ebay and see how we go - I've put one of her beds in front of the aga for now and she is happy curled up there (until the kids decide to join her).
Thanks everyone.
