Scam sellers, dog buyers beware

Hi

I have been looking for a dog as a companion for my king charles cavalier and thought id share my problems with everyone else looking for pets.

I was due to collect a lhasa apso and a chihuahua on thursday. I planned to pay in cash when i got there. It didnt happen because the seller was a scam artist.
When i first replied to the ad, they asked if i would like the dogs couriered to me for only £150, but i said no because i lived near by.

There are lots of adverts offering pets or puppies to 'forever homes' for reasonable prices. Obviously too reasonable.

Please beware if you are looking for a dog or pup online. It might be the same for other pets but i only looked for a dog.
Anyway these people are replying saying they will courier the pet to you for whatever reason. The locations are all over the uk, but there are no dogs. I replied to a good few around about me in glasgow/edinburgh areas but i have had replies from them all of the same nature. for example -
I have relocated to dublin/london/usa because my mum/husband/daughter has died/ran away/had a stroke, but i can arrange a pet courier for only £150 if you promise to give my baby a good loving home.

It seems lots of people have paid the delivery fee and there are no dogs, but whoever they talk to on the phone are posing as a delivery agency.

Anyway please dont give them your money.

I got an email from the person i was getting the dogs from saying she had been made redundant and was relocating but would courier the dogs to me, i said i could collect them that night, i would leave right now. Tried calling them and she didnt answer, but we had spoken on the phone. She then said she has decided to keep the dogs.

freeads and preloved are full of the scammers. The sun classifieds have warnings next to some ads if they have been reported.

agree totally with mutt. am glad you did not lose your money though, but surely it is better to by from approved kennel club breeders. that is where we got our lhasas from. i would never just have a dog couriered to me! sounds a bit mad really.

there are plenty of real life rescue centres looking for good homes, perhaps try them next time.

i didn't agree to the courier because i wanted to see them first anyway.

I have had bad experiances with rescue dogs in the past so wont be going there.

i'v emailed a few breeders in my area now.
