Pet log

Not seen any other thread on this . I read on the news last week that petlog has updated its system. And lost the details of pets .
Tonight I attempted to log on. It stated that if I hadn't made an account after March 2021 I had to make another.
There is no evidence that my dog is registered with them!
Please check your accounts , could cause major problems if your pet goes missing .
Now going to have to find my dogs chip details and hope!

I've done the same but my dog is still not appeared on the website. Such a worry if your dog had gone missing in that time. How would you get them back?

Yep, same for me. Password didn't work but system found my account with long deceased dog's details (death of which I had notified them of 5 years ago) and current dog not on. I clicked to add dog and put in chip no and then it told me they would check system to see if they could find chip no in their records and come back to me. Nothing happened until after about a week got a (to all petlog users, I think) email saying not to be alarmed. They were checking for my records and lots of apologies for failure of their system on upgrade. They are obviously having a terrible time so I am just going to give them a while. My dog was chipped at Battersea, at the time I adopted her and registered to me by them same day so I know she won't be recorded on anyone else's account as no previous owner.

Oh wow, seriously? I haven't seen this and they haven't emailed me.

I updated the records a few weeks ago. I will check today.

Thank you so much for posting.

I never got an email either. I only knew about it reading an online news paper, can't remember which one.
If owners haven't had the email they won't have a clue. Spread the message .

After an entire hour of battling with it, I have got my dog's details correctly attributed to my email address.

I am incredibly cross that 1) I didn't get an email (I have done a search through junk) 2) this "update" wasn't advertised in advance (I updated everything to a new address in MARCH online and there was nothing about this plan) and 3) that had my dog legged it on our long walk yesterday, she may not have been easily located.

I found a BBC article about it with goggling. Thank you @drinkingwineoutofamug I will pass I on!

@sunbelievable

I wasn't quite clear - I found out about PetLog problems from local dog group facebook post, so that's why I went on to check my details. I think I possibly only got an email because I'd recently checked and tried to alter my account (back to what it should have been). The email was a sort of general one acknowledging their problems and promising to put them right, etc, that I think they've been driven to do as the word is getting out and the mess is worse than they first realised. I think, after reading drinkingwine's posts above, I will have another bash at sorting it out if I get time this week as both of you have managed to get yours done.

Mines still not on there so I've just emailed them. I wonder when I'll get a reply, if ever?

I thought I'd have another go today. Nothing has changed - old deceased dog still apparently alive and well and on my account. Current dog - no sign. I tried searching her microchip no. Yes, it is on the system - no I can't have a look as I am not authorised to do so (i.e. not the keeper). I filled in a form saying she was missing. Then, I saw a box bottom right saying contact us and filled in details of problems and clicked "Next" - was taken to a box which wanted me to rate their website (!!!! - the lowest was no 1 = poor - guess what I picked?).
I then tried to 'phone them but, not surprisingly, it was engaged. I am going to keep trying each morning until I get a person. Goodness know who has been told my dog belongs to them - very worrying indeed. In fact, she was chipped as I adopted her at Battersea and they registered her immediately online to ME at my address as registered owner before I left the building. Therefore, she has never had another owner. I also saw that a recently reunited go on DogLost was not reunited with its owner immediately as the PetLog problems caused a delay.....

This very worrying tbh . Especially if pets aren't registered to the correct owners

Thanks for this. It was easy enough to create a new account and it automatically matched me with my dog so easily fixed.

But the lack of communication from PetLog in the first place, is really shocking!

I clicked on this thread expecting a twist on a classic pet rock. Sorry you're facing rather weightier issues. I'll see myself out...
