Have you ever gone away for weekend and left your cats with litter trays, automated feeder etc?

Lots of times! They were always absolutely fine.

No. I'd arrange for someone to stop in or put them in a cattery.

Do they have outdoor access? Because my cats (and most I think?) will only use a clean litter tray and would become distressed without access to one. My cats also prefer fresh water every day and given cats propensity to develop kidney problems I'm keen to facilitate that.

Over night only with a neighbour feeding him.

Not any more. They get upset and start mistaking beds for litter trays.

I’ve been away for 3 weeks and just had a neighbour feed him.

Thanks all, I have left them before for a few days with auto feeder and access to outside along with extra litter trays. Just wondering what everyone thinks of his really as they've been fine in the past. We out them in Cattery for longer trips away.

Ours sleep in the shed with cat flap. We have been on 2 week holidays with friend feeding them. If they were indoor cats I wouldn't ask anyone to come in and mind them so I'd use a cattery.

One of my cats was always free fed dried food, so we could go away for a weekend no problem at all. Our new cat only eats wet food and a few times a day so we can't leave her anymore. I guess we could get an automatic feeder but not sure how that will work. Last tome we went away we had someone in go feed her and they didn't squeeze all the food out of the sachets and when we got home the house was full of flies from the bin after the cat food. So it makes me reluctant with automatic feeders.

I've left mine for the weekend (one night) with plenty of food, water and outside access and they are fine. Any longer than that and I will get a relative to come and feed them, and normally they will stay for a little while to give them attention/reassurance. Having seen some catteries and the state of some pets when they come back I would never use a cattery.

Our cattery is lovely. I wouldn’t have left mine alone, he needed human interaction.

I wouldn’t leave my alone for longer than about 12 hours. She eats wet food.

If I am away overnight I have family drop in and feed her, but also pay her a little attention. She is very sociable and likes to be stroked and fussed over.

Two nights happily. I'd do three at a push, but longer than that I get someone in. Two cats though so they have company, eat mainly dry food (supplemented with the local rodent population Hmm) and we don't use litter trays.

About a day and a half maximum with access to the garden for toileting and food in a timer thingamajig.
Otherwise one of my neighbours comes in. She loves cats but can't have one because her DH is allergic to them . They love her and reciprocate by leaving"gifts". My neighbour is very understanding.

Nope never leave pets fully unattended. Should have someone checking on them at least once a day whether family, friend, neighbour or pet sitter. Or put them into a boarding facility
