Cat only eats dry food

I My cat only eats dry food. I had her from a kitten and she is around 8 months now. I have never experienced a cat that will only eat dry food. I have tried her also on fish, chicken, ham you name it she will just sniff it and waddle off. She will nibble on a bit of cheese now and then if I am lucky. She also likes those stick treat things that they sell in shops. She drinks an awful lot of water too. Is this normal? I am not that worried about it as she is very content and loving but I am just wondering if this will cause any health problems later on in her life or problems with her teeth.
Never known a kitty to drink so much water either. What's all that about?
My local vet says their is no problem with her and the water intake is down to her just consuming dry food and just to keep trying her on wet food.

Mine is the same, she is five and wont touch wet food! We have tried all different brands and flavours. She will however eat roast chicken from the deli counter, so we buy one a week for us and she has the leftovers over the next few days. Bizarre. She wont eat chicken from a packet.

She drinks alot because her food is dry. Less smell and cheaper so I don't see the problem. My dogs only eat dry because that's what I give them. Better for your cats teeth too - my vet recommended I give my old cat dry for her teeth.

No problem as such just wondered if it was normal. I've had quite a few cats in my lifetime and this is a first for me. Thanks for your replies.

My cat is 9 & only has dry food. He won't even look at anything else. We buy a good quality one & ensure he has lots of water available. He's in good health & his teeth are fine. My vet says dry food is better for them. This cat is the only one I've had who will only eat dry.

The vet would have liked us to keep the cat on dry food only as it's better for their teeth, but mine preferred some wet food as well so get both.

Dry food is extremely addictive to cats and can affect them in the long run causing a detrimental affect to their kidneys and teeth. The best diet for a cat is a raw one as nature intended but if you don’t fancy that then trying to get your cat into wet food in the future would be good. The fact your cat is drinking though is a good sign as many cats get dehydrated on a kibble diet. Cats are extremely fussy though and it can take a lot of persuasion and patience for them to change food!

Mine is the same. I mix royal canin with whiskas dry. The only other thing that she will eat is lick e lix, which she absolutely loves.

Our cat prefers wet food, and will only drunk out of a running tap or a glass of water left out for a person. She’s not interested in having her own glass of water.

Yes my girl is one fussy cat and I regularly have to change the dry food and flavours. Currently trying out the scrumbles range which so far is hit and miss. One day she will eat and the next she won't. Drives me crazy this kitty does but I love her to bits.
