How to stop a cat from trying to get in the bedroom and destroying carpets?

Hi All!

I am currently expecting my first baby, the moses basket will need to go in our bedroom for a good few months at the beginning so we are trying to teach the cat to stay out of our bedroom. We have bought her 2 new beds, scratching posts and toys but she is scratching the door to the bedroom, the carpet has been scratched down to the floorboards and she just meows for hours on end.

Have any of you had the same thing? If so how did you deal with it?

Thanks for your help,
Kayleigh

Hi Kayleigh, we have found the only way to discourage our cats was to have a water spray bottle and spray them every time they do something you don't want them doing. Using this method we've stopped the cats sleeping in baby's cot/Moses basket, scratching sofas and jumping on kitchen sides. It does work but can take a few attempts before they get the message xx
