Our cats have fleas

Our neighbours cat is infested with fleas and my guess is our cats caught them from neighbours cats but we have tried the vet and used the stuff the vet gave us, we tried other flea treatments including spray and nothing seems to kill them

Both the cats and myself are being bitten and I need something that works

Are the tablets that make fleas infertile any good? I’m getting desperate

What did the vet give you? You need to treat the pet and the house too.

@wolfiefan some kind of all in one flea and worming stuff that you put on the back of their neck. Also tried spot on

Not sure how to treat the house

Not all spot on treatments are effective. Check what it was. And Indorex the house.

Is Indorex safe for people?

I’ve never needed it. We advocate or advantage our cats monthly. The cam should have full info.

I might be your neighbour as I told everyone in my street that I have a flea infestation...
This is what I have been doing:
Advocate drops on cat's neck
Indorex/ Frontline all around the house
Washed all sofas covers, tumbled dried for 2 hours what could not be washed
Fumigating my house every 5 days with something called Clear - I disconnect the fire alarms and I leave for the day. As soon as I am back Ixopen all windows.
I also went my cat every day with a spray and comb him.
An expert in disinfestation told me to have this very aggressive approach as the warm weather does not help.
I have had cats all my life but this never happened to me...
The pill my vet prescribed is to avoid worms: apparently fleas spread them....

You only need a decent spot on used monthly and Indorex around the house.
Frontline is pretty useless.

Have same problem and vet said it’s been a bad summer for fleas this year, apparently they’re everywhere

Hi, agreed. For some reason fleas have been thriving this year. Our cats usually have frontline but it didn't seem to protect them this time and they both got fleas (one was pulling his fur out in chunks itching. We went to a different vet and got another brand: Stronghold. Sorted it out very quickly. The new vet said they can develop resistance to products. So I would recommend switching brands...

I would de flea house you can get flea bombs to let off in house

Comb your cat daily ... we struggled to find anything to kill fleas but pets at home to a sticky liquid that the fleas walk in ( when on back of cats neck ) and it makes them easier to catch have boiling hot water in cup
( you don’t want to re use ) to dip comb in to kill them

Flea bombs are a waste of money.
Buy proper stuff from the vet. Not frontline. What you buy from a pet shop may not be safe and certainly won’t work.

Well, used Advantage twice now...cat has stopped grooming in the time (but started peeing again on the carpet....Lord!!!!)
I find bombs do work but you have to use them an 4 days interval as they do not kill eggs ...at least, this is what the Rentokil expert said.....
