Any vets out there?

My vet has told me today that she has noticed abnormal cells in my dog's (female, 2yo, spayed) urine.

She had a bladder scan a few weeks ago and no issues but they now want to do a contrast scan. Recently she has had crystals in her urine, issues with licking and odour and some sporadic occasions of incontinence. She has been on anti incontinence medication for a month.

She will be getting a scan soon but as soon as they mentioned abnormal cells I immediately thought cancer. I'm sitting here worrying like crazy now. Is there anything else it could be???

Not a dog, but a colleague at work recently had abnormal cells in his urine, also protien and blood. Blood tests were also showing abnormal results (high white blood cells I think). He couldn't come to work due to incontinence, and had visible blood when peeing.

He had weeks of tests, including, scans, camera showing widespread suspicious lesions in the bladder (he was told to expect bad news) and a bladder biopsy it was eventually diagnosed as a very bad bladder infection. Took 3-4 weeks to clear with intensive antibs.

Hope all goes OK with your ddog and you get some answers soon (and you have plenty of insurance!) 💐

Thanks for your reply. Glad your colleague recovered. Yes, we have 'cover for life' insurance thankfully, hopefully it's something that is easily fixed Bear
