Hi we have just purchased two male rabbits (brothers) they are about six months old... buddy has always been the dominate one by spraying and jumping on franks back... So decided to get Buddy castrated it’s only been a week but keeping them separate is hard work... Iv put them together when I’ve fed them morning and at night and they have been fine... tried them together for a few seconds tonight and all hell broke loose! Fur everywhere they hate each other... I’m due to have Frank castrated tomorrow but don’t know if I’m doing the right thing!!!! I can only keep the rabbits if they get along as we just open the hut in the morning and they have the whole run of the garden all day... do I go ahead with getting him castrated and see what they will be like in a few weeks or do you think their bond has gone? If this is the case I will have to find a new home for one of them ☹️

When you feed them together are they’re bowls together or apart? Maybe try feed them in a large area where they can both see each other but aren’t too close. Maybe even try out a few distractions between them like a box on its side to sit in let them approach each other in their own time. Id probably still take the other to the vets.

Get the other boy castrated and muddle through keeping them apart for at least a month. The neuter will cause one last surge in hormones, so putting them together too early during this transition period can cause more fights and ruin any potential future bond back together.

Also be careful letting rabbits roam unsupervised free in the garden. Predators can turn up unannounced at any time and rabbits are devious, they will work on "projects" which can include digging a hole under a fence.
