Clipping dogs nails

So my dogs nails have gotten to the point that they are curling. They are also giving her problems walking. She is a 35kg Doberman and she will not let me cut them. Vets and groomers are out of the question for where I live! I have good scissors and they'll clip easily but anytime I grab her leg she pulls it away and I scared I'm gonna break her leg or something. Any advice on how to make it easier for me and her?!? TIA

Are you on Facebook? You need to join the excellent Nail Maintenance for Dogs group. There are files and videos explaining how to desensitise your dog so that he's happy for you to do his nails and they also explain the alternative cut line which helps to shorten the quicks.

These are the best nail clippers I've found and the ones recommended by the group. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0002ARUKQ/ref=mpssa111?ie=UTF8&qid=1551264183&sr=8-1&keywords=millers+forge+clippers&dpPl=1&dpID=41hKt39M9cL&ref=plSrch

I have a large dog and if i just pick up a paw while he's standing he thinks he's going to tip over.

I wait till he's lying down and relaxed (and in good light as the claws are dark!) and then crouch down next to him and do one claw without really moving the paw. Then treat and leave it for a couple of days.
