We have 2 cats and, at night and when we go out, they are kept confined to the utility room which has a cat flap to the garden. We arrived home from a day out earlier & went to let the cats out of the utility room. They appeared distressed and, when we entered the utility room, were hit by a god awful smell. There was poo & wee all over the floor which surprised us as they have always been well toilet trained and have never had an accident in the house. There were also clumps of our neutered Tom cat's fur on the floor, indicating some kind of fight. Tom cat also stank of poo and had a slightly injured paw.
I assumed that another cat had come in through the cat flap but am now wondering if more likely a fox as I don't think a cat would poo like that. There was also more poo on the patio. We do have a lot of urban foxes around here.
I'm now really scared it will come back and harm my cats. Anyone had any experience of a fox coming through a cat flap. Is this even possible?
Tia.
