Worried about my nephew's African Land Snail - anyone know anything?

We are pet sitting my nephew's African Land Snail while my sister and family are on holiday. My BIL cleaned out the tank before they went and they are away for a week. We are spraying the inside of the tank twice a day and giving him (her? it?) fresh veggies every day and clearing out old food. He has been quite active but today I noticed he had spent most of the day in his little 'house' (a wooden arch) but didn't think much of it. This evening my husband sprayed him as usual and noticed little wriggling things in a small pile of poo.

Now I am worried he's ill and we'll have a dead snail by next week. We haven't been given instructions for clearing him out and we don't have the special clean soil I know they use to change his soil. Otherwise that would be the first thing I'd do.

Any advice? I have tried googling but haven't been able to find any information on anything like this.

We have three giant ones at my work! (Nursery) and we have never had them poo with bits wiggling in them! We only occasionally change their soil but it is very deep! Hmm not sure what to suggest! What does Google say?

Mine used to have those pesky fruit files in the tank. Could it be that?

Thanks for replying. I couldn't find anything like this on an initial Google - just advice on broken shells and prolapsed mouth parts (!) and the danger of catching meningitis from your pet snail (minimal apparently).

I will check out that forum thank you.

The wriggling things are really very tiny - maybe a millimetre long, like little larvae. Which I guess is what they are. Yurk.

Ah, checked out the link. Might try pumpkin seeds then. I'm nervous about removing the soil and keeping him on damp kitchen roll. I wonder if that could actually harm him.
