I have just adopted an ex-stud pedigree cat. He has been with us for 5 days now and seems terrified of humans. He has hidden under the bed of the one room we have been advised to keep him in and hisses when we look at him. We have all the patience in the world with him, he is lovely, but it seems to be one step forward, one step back. We pop in to see him many times a day and speak gently to him. He is eating fine now (didn't eat for the first 24 hours) so no worries there, but he may let us stroke him a couple of times a day, the rest he hisses? Am impatient to see him happy I suppose. Has anyone had experience with extremely timid cats? He is 4 years old.
