Moving, how am I going to transport our pets?

I have no idea what to do Confused
We have one (big) dog, 3 cats (one is very old) 6 chooks, hamster and a tortoise.
I am going to have to get a removal company in, we don't drive and I don't have anyone that can drive us (its Milton Keynes to London)
The train would be a nightmare, the dog is a huge puppy, that jumps all over people and the stress of the train coud well be the end of our old cat (she nearly died last move and that was 3 years ago)

I'm really starting to panic!

Could you hire a man and a van?

There are pet transport companies out there who are specialised in this and have air conditioned adapted vehicles, could be worth it unless you have friends who can help as moving is really already stressful enough without adding pets into the mix - we've just done it and moving the cat was the biggest palava as having to hire a horse lorry to move a horse ourselves after initially scoffing at prices to get someone else to do it - when we move again in a few months I will be happy to pay someone to take care of that side of things and just look on it as a moving expense! Good luck!!

When moving if your dog or cats are microchipped don't forget to update your address on the databases so if they get lost they can easily be reunited with you!

If they are not chipped maybe consider doing this around the time of the move. You can get your dog chipped for free at any Dogs Trust, Battersea of Blue Cross centre (so some choice in London).

Hope the move isn't too stressful - and welcome to London!

I highly recommend using zylkene for the cat- really calms them without knocking them out. You can use it for the dog as well. Viovet have the best price at the moment.
