I could tweet at the Baroness and Lord Lucas etc. I posted this initialky on Feminism chat but it has now been moved to Petitions. Fair enough but can I tell people in chat to come and look for it here? Also I can only find this board by doing a search - I didn't know it existed - can anyone (MNHQ?) tell me where it sits?

I just came to look for it (told some other MNers to take a gander and they couldn't find it). This is a nuisance - it's so important and I'm sure that lots of women will want to sign up. They just need to see it! Sorry Tawny - no idea how to make that possible!

I realise the gender confused shouldn’t be ‘affirmed’.

But aren’t same sex attraction and gender -confused separate issues?

Isn’t conversion therapy to try to stop someone feeling same sex attraction harmful and useless? If so is a ban on this so wrong?

Is it that these separate issues are going to be conflated so that a ban on converting (thereby affirming) same sex attraction will mean ‘affirming’ gender confusion?

There are lobby groups who want legitimate therapies for gender dysphoria to be conflated with "conversion therapy" used to 'covert' gay people to being straight. Therefore the only model/approach available would be the "affirmation" model. If your child told you he/she beleived they were really the opposite sex, any kind of exploratory therapy to help them understand their feelings, and help them feel that they were not born in the wrong body, would be criminal. This petition has been set up by the concernd clinicians.
