Not my petition but it makes a very valid point. Currently only the parents/carers with disabled children under the age of 5 and disabled adults can form a bubble. There's nothing for households with two adults looking after disabled children over the age of 5. They don't become magically easier between the ages of 5 and 18. Many parents and carers have had zero respite since March.

I'm sorry OP but petitions aren't allowed on the main boards.

In theory if your child is over 5 you get restbite when your dc is at school which most carers of adults and under 5s don't get and if there's 2 parents you can spell each other so that you can both have time off single parent/carers again don't have that.
I know that it's hard to be a full time carer for a disabled child as I am 1 and its just been me and dc since March with my only break being when dc is in school, but we all have get on with it

There's many that cannot get their disabled children into school, either due to refusals (unsuitable provision) or no provision being given. There are those with multiple disabled children as well. What has made it even harder is that Christmas was a possibility of some respite by staying with family and this has been taken away, not just for those in the South but for those who live a distance away from family.

@hennaoj
I am well aware of the difficulties of getting appropriate school places for disabled children which is why I said in theory.
As a single parent of a dc with multiple disabilities i really do know how hard it is but a line needs to be drawn and they have done so and unfortunately we can't always get what we want . I wanted to see my dd who is at uni but now can't I haven't seen her since August but we can't. Yes it's shit but we really need to get on with it and hope that we get a vaccine asap
