It doesn’t cost anything.

Too many lies spread by the anti vaxer growing population.
Our children (who are vaccinated) are only 95% covered after the first vaccine!
France and Germany have decided to make this vaccine mandatory, so should the U.K.

The anti vaxer population are being heard because their shouting louder, it’s time the pro vaccination population get heard.

duplicated post as last post had incorrect link

I disagree completely. Vaccines should not be forced upon anyone. It's totalitarian.

Also disagree - you cannot mandate medical procedures that for some people will carry an element of risk. Possible side-effects are written on the Patient Information Leaflet for a reason:

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.6307.pdf

My children all had all of their vaccines, including MMR - so I am not anti vaccination.

it should be compulsory. @katieb55 obviously these people who are allergic etc wouldn’t be subject to it !

Vaccinations are not just about protecting the vaccinated person but proteins people who can’t be immunised. Herd immunity !

In some countries, this is already a thing. E.g. ‘or being able to enroll at pre school without being vaccinated.

We dont live in a fascist state, you cant make a vaccination mandatory (and neither are France and Germany) . You can make people prove their kids are vaccinated to access services such as state schools and nurseries. You could just lie anyway, until they also start issuing official, regulated, witnessed certificates, like a birth certificate, or perform blood tests to prove immunity. Good luck getting the NHS to fund that.

It can be recommended and strongly encouraged but you can't force people to vaccinate their children, especially as some will have medical conditions that make it contraindicated. Don't forget too that the DoH could have avoided a lot of the issues now with epidemic concerns and herd immunity by continuing to license the single vaccinations and letting people pay for them of the wanted to.

I dont think you've thought this through..My children are fully vaccinated.

Precisely. My dc had single vaccinations because they had very strong reactions to their early babyhood jabs. When it came to the MMR I was not prepared to overload their bodies with multiple live vaccinations so I paid for singles. Luckily I was able to afford this. If single vaxes were available on the NHS this would have been avoided.

pepper where did you get the single vaccs done?

At the Brakespeare Hospital in Herts but it was many years ago, 2004 or so.

Like France and the US, unvaccinated children should not be able to attend educational settings. They are of course more than welcome to be home schooled

My eldest reacted very badly after the mmr- my subsequent 5 children were not vaccinated. They have had measles.
At the time that my eldest was going through extensive testing- he had stopped eating, speaking and growing and also had terrible diarrhoea for months and months- no consultant was prepared to rule out mmr as a possible cause and I couldn’t Take the risk that there was a genetic link to his reaction that would also affect my others. They didn’t Know what had happened to him.
What would you say to families like mine then?

Absolutely, however that does seem to be punishing the child when they can not speak up against it.
The irony is most the anti vaxers will have had the vaccination themselves, so they're not at risk but their children are!

BigButtons you will never ever get posters on here to address the issue of vaccine damaged children because they deny their existence. They will claim you are either mistaken or just lying. Welcome to the dishonest agenda of the pro vaccine anti choice fascists.
Sorry about your ds.

France and Germany have decided to make this vaccine mandatory

This is such bollocks. They havent made it mandatory at all They cant. They've said kids cant join state kindergartens without proof of vaccination or immunity (not necessarily from MMR) and are considering introducing fines. There's nothing to force people that don't use state kindergartens to do anything. They are obviously and quite rightly going to be vigourously encouraging vaccination but that is not making it "mandatory".

it's was very hard to get single vaccs for my DCs - DD back in 2004 and by the time my DS was having his single jabs in 2005 they'd stopped making the mumps vac, so he's only covered by the initial one.

Arent they due a booster soon, what do I do if I don't want them to have the mmr? I'm assuming that's the only option open now? I personally would rather they both had singles again.... am I screwed with no choice but to go the mmr route now?

pepperpot99 sadly I think you are right. Dc like mine spoil the narrative.

I live in France, and we have to provide proof of vaccinations for entry into nursery school, primary school and secondary school. Whilst it's not technically 'mandatory', it pretty much is. I think it's a good system.

Spent the last 6 hours in a&e after I saw how bad my little girls rash had got today waiting for an answer as to whether my little girl had measles, a virus which could kill her. Thankfully the consultant and one other doctor believe it’s not the other 5 doctors were not sure as it looked so similar.
She’s had all her vaccinations, but unfortunately the 1st MMR vaccine only gives 95% protection.
It makes me so sad that any families need to go through this sickening worry or worse if their child does get measles.
All because there is such inaccurate information on the internet scaring people not to vaccinate their children weakening herd immunity for all other children 😢😔😢
