to start a thread asking you to sign this petition asking for a public inquiry and referendum over deeply undemocratic government plans to force all schools to become academies by 2022

Even good and outstanding ones which have a good relationship with and are well run by their Local Authorities .

Apologies if people have linked to this petition already within the other threads on this topic but I though that the petition deserved its own thread.

Does anyone know if there are planned demonstrations against this or how to organise one ?

There are already 80,000 odd signatures so amother 20,000 will force a parliamentary debate.

I don't know - there is also a 38 degrees one but I always think that the parliamentary petitions are more effective - maybe I am completely wrong.

Good news - the 1st petition is up to 109,000 signatures and the second 98,000. So both will be up for debate.

There is a demonstration in London on Wednesday if anyone wants to go.
