I'm already having trouble with year 3 homework!

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help....I don't understand my son's literacy homework!

He has to correct the sentence 'none of the frogs were croaking'....it looks right to him, and to me, and I feel quite daft!

Could anyone explain why this needs correcting so I can help him?

Thanks!

Does he have to put in the capital letters and full stops?

were should be was because none is singular (as in "not one")

Thank you!

So it is 'was' for plural? That would explain why he has to correct 'Neither of the boys were right' as well!

Does anyone know of a good simple grammar book - for me? I think I'm going to need to brush up!

Thanks again

no were is for plural ie.
the frogs were croaking
all of the frogs were croaking
but
one of the frogs was croaking

I've found a quiz on another website, and that is explaining my wrong answers to me....its going to be a long year!

Thanks again for your help
