When people type "I should of...." instead of "I should have...".

Makes me want to scrub out the inside of my head with a pan scourer

I hate it too. And another really common one is 'where' instead of 'were'. What is that about? Do a lot of people actually pronounce were that way and that is why they misspell it?

"What you got?" directed towards three yo DD1. I constantly correct to "What do you have?" Even my dear father, who has been known to telephone the BBC to correct their mistakes, fell foul of this the other day. Why do people feel the need to drop grammer from the window when speaking to small children? (Aside, sorry, grammer? grammar? Typed both and they both looked right. I am too tired to think clearly!)

I know it's irritating, but you can see why they do it.... "I should've" does sound amazingly like "I should of".

DD (5) quite clearly says 'should of' etc, so I know what she's going to be writing, given half a chance ... sigh. I'm biting my lip though, and concentrating on trying to get her to say 'because' and 'before' instead of 'acause' and 'afore', weird child.

I hate 'what do you want?' when it's actually 'what would you like?' - we 'want for nothing' because we are very lucky but there are things which we might 'like'.

Rant over DH does it all the time and I have to mutter under my breath!

I hate the weird new use of "X and I" after a preposition, eg 'He gave it to X and I'

It just makes me cringe.
