personally I would say 'me and dh' but would write 'dh and I'

I corrected DD1 the other day. She announced
'Me and DD2 are going....'
'No, it's DD2 and I'
'Okay, me and DD's eyes are going...'

but start them early anyway!

Of course, it's just as bad when people try to "over-correct" and say things like "please get the reports back to John and I.
