I agree. It's not even funny. Or is it and I'm just not getting it?

You are being very norty complaining about ishoos! wink

solo Thu 04-Sep-08 13:38:08

I don't get it either squeaver.
Norty? NORTY? Ha!
Do people genuinely think issue is written that way? Maybe it's because some pronounce it that way and some pronounce it with a ssss sound? Do those that say/spell ishoo also say tishoo?
English is such a beautiful language, why is it being changed by some?

I can almost feel the missiles wending their way toward me! <<<duck!!!!>>>

Hijack alert! Solo, did you find that strawberry tiramisu recipe? I'm having people for dinner on Sat, and I'd love to try it out.

ll - quite! wink

Dreyfus Thu 04-Sep-08 14:25:57

Ishoo is used, obviously, by those who feel slightly precious about using 'issue' - as if they're trotting-out a well-worn cliche. They want you to know they know it's a precious, up-oneself, pretentious, 21st-century psychobabbly cliche.

There's a wealth of hidden meaning and weight lurking underneath what you might think is a merely lazy, text-speaky mis-spelling.

georgiemum Thu 04-Sep-08 14:27:19

tishoo? Or is it like 'yoof'?

Overmydeadbody Thu 04-Sep-08 14:28:01

What dreyfus said.

It's the hidden meaning tongue in cheek use. Like norty or blardy.

I like it.

Uriel Thu 04-Sep-08 14:29:03

Uriel Thu 04-Sep-08 14:29:32

solo Thu 04-Sep-08 14:42:06

I've now broken out in hives!

PortAndLemon Thu 04-Sep-08 14:44:25

Yes, ishoos means "what I would, were I terribly American and earnest and psychobabbly about it, call issues".

's when yoove got ishoo wiv sumwon init?

Teuch Thu 04-Sep-08 14:46:47

What Dreyfus said.

Subtext: "I know I sound like that twat Jeremy Kyle with the misfits on his programme, but let me go right ahead and say it anyway..."

Sumwon or sumfing, anyways.

solo Thu 04-Sep-08 15:14:26

Surely not sumfing? shouldn't it be sumfin? <<jus askin>>

solo Thu 04-Sep-08 15:21:10
