The English Langauge Howlers Made By Sheiky's Colleagues: An Occasional Series

Following on from one of my colleagues who couldn't be more "persific" with his copy instructions, the colleague who was "annoid" by one of her client and the colleague who holds the account for "Grovenar Casino's", we have the following instructions from a sales person

"FOR THERE ADD, CAN YOU DO A RED, GREEN AND WHITE BOARDER PICTURE OF LEANING TOWER OF PIZZA PLEASE AS THEY HAVE THIS ON THERE' MENUS."

I have copied and pasted it from the work database.

Where do I start?

I have been PMSL about "The leaning tower of pizza" all morning [puerile]

These people should know better.

i once had a customer (he was a business owner, i was his banker) who tried to rally his troops by putting up a sign that read

"if you can't do it excellantly, don't do it at all"

ps i'm sure yours is a typo, not an error

Lol flatmouse - were you taught by Mrs. Longstaff? She would have had a fit!

lol at "excellantly"

I can forgive others in other professions, but we work in publishing. Spelling correctly is our job, ffs

Isn't it a shiver of sharks?

I once wrote a letter to a pedantic boyfriend bemoaning my friend's "appauling spelling"

he did point it out

he was more pedant than gentleman

Sounds plausible!
(I would like it to be a pathos of sharks, but that is because I used to read Viz.)

ROFL. I have only 3 mins to MN today - you haven't disappointed me with this, Sheiky.

Never taught by her, but she was my form teacher in 6th form. We didn't get on.

She tried to persuade my parents NOT to allow me to go on tour of USA with orchestra over Feb half term (meant missing maybe 2 days of school) as in her mind i wasn't working hard enough for my A levels.

My parents let me go. She was perfectly correct i wasn't working hard enough (and still didn't on my return). But seriously, did she imagine that banning me from the tour would help??

As aside, dd printed off Fimbles song about Santa on CBeebies website.
It refers to 'soot on there nose' and 'more toy's'.

Have of course written to moan.

DH forwarded me this, sent round by the receptionist:

"If your registration is either XXX OR YYY please could you move it as it is blocking and also you was parked there yesterday and got told to move."

(It is all spelled correctly though...)

Sheik, I love it that they have the Leaning Tower of Pizza on their menus

(As my no-shit-Sherlock DD1 pointed out when she saw it this summer, "if it wasn't leaning it wouldn't be famous, it would just be another tower" - & the restuarants could onlyhave Tower of Pizza)

Report
WendyWeber · 03/09/2008 14:30

Oh dear, I spelt restaurants wrong

Anyway how many layers in a Tower of Pizza & what flavours?
