Why do some people not give their "proper" email addresses but write them like this ...

(for example):
freda bloggs at serviceprovider dot com
and not:
freda.bloggs@serviceprovider.com?

Piffle Sun 27-Jul-08 21:20:14

cos spammers get your address by scanning the web fir @ signs

freda bloggs at service provider dot com would surely translate as fredabloggs@servicepovider.com and not freda.bloggs@serrviceprovider.com
Sorry to be pedantic.

This could be a very brief thread. Given Piffle's answered the OP in one. (Can't think of any more diversions but am impressed by Swedes' pedantry.)

and also, some sites (e.g. Friends Reunited) block trad email addresses in notes so you cough up and pay their registration fee.
