Well, it's the National Association of Head Teachers, but a quick google shows newspapers using headteacher. So, you could probably go for either, although it looks like headteacher is the more modern common usage.
Thanks very much dad. That was my assumption too.
I prefer the former, but both are used so both can be said to be correct.
