Depends what time you have it

Nope, it's always Christmas dinner. Even if you have it at midday. Before midday would be breakfast and it's illegal to eat roast potatoes before midday on Christmas Day Wink

Also, I'm not keen on Santa when it should be Father Christmas. Bah.

Yes, it is.

Lunch is a light meal, and Christmas dinner is anything but light.

Dinner is the main meal of the day, whenever it is eaten.

Totally disagree. Lunch is eaten between 12-2 regardless of how big it is. If it's a light lunch it's called a light lunch. Dinner is a more formal evening meal.

We're having Christmas lunch at 1pm tomorrow. We're going out for Christmas Eve dinner at 6 tonight.

Christmas lunch just sounds like you're trying to be posh!

I think this calling it lunch is a British thing. In the US it's dinner no matter what time it's eaten. Ours is usually 2-3 in the afternoon.

It's Christmas dinner. Just like it's wedding breakfast even if you have it at 8 p.m.?
