Can the the word rota be used as a verb as in " I will rota her on this shift" or is this slng? Also, if it can be used as a verb, what would be the past tense?

forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=1055824 was going to suggest use roster instead. Glad this link clears it up confused

Yes.
You roster a person onto a shift, for which there might be a rota.

I seem to remember from Prisoner Cell Block H that Australian usage is that Roster is a noun as well as a verb.

in UK Enlighs, Rota is the noun and Roster is the verb.
