My mind has gone blank. I cannot remember what I got or would have liked that would have been really appreciated when DD was born.

Lots of people are getting my friend oils and things for herself on the assumption that everyone is getting something for the baby, so I think I want to get something for the baby! Gender is unknown, she has bought next to nothing so far, but is being given some things. I think she is waiting to see what she needs to buy nearer the time.

I want to buy something useful, but not boring. DH had suggested a microwave steriliser which we found invaluable, but this is not a pretty thing!

Any ideas? I have up to £10, possibly a little more for the right thing(s)

A grobag
A nice blanket
One really special baby outfit (if it's her first baby)
A nice photo album or frame

How much do you want to spend?

Shame you said about the blanket as I saw a lovely Mamas & Papas one the other day but it was £35! Thats a bit steep!

Photo frame is a good idea though, should be able to get a really nice one for £10 shouldn't i?

A CD of lullabies or children's music?

A pair of cute baby bootees

A colourful baby toy / buggy toy - like the Lamaze ones or nice soft comforter/toy like the Eco ones

have you got a tkmaxx near you? I always find nice baby layette (? think thats right) sets around the £10/£15 mark that are pretty and have a french label. I've picked up a mamas and papas sleep sac for a tenner and a m&p cot mobile for a fiver before now in there.

I do have a tkmaxx! {grrrr] baby shower was today, why on earth did I not think of that? !!!! I was in there only the other day thinking they had some great stuff!

I ended up buying this really nice cloth, brightly coloured photo frame by mamas & papas, reduced from £16 to £9 and also some really funky muslin cloths in light purple and white (and picked up some for us while there!) on sale for £5. She seemed pleased.

I only thought of it on the way home from shops and no time to go back so I will get for when baby is born - some mum vouchers - you know 1 voucher for a soak in the bath, 1 voucher for a home cooked meal by someone, that she can exchange for things with DP and friends. I remember seeing these in mothercare I think a while ago. Always when its too late eh?
