Trying to find Halloween stuff that's more "friendly ghost' and less Slasher Movie!

It's proving to be THE nightmare! I'm doing a party for 6-8 boys aged 7-10 years (AM I mad?) and am struggling to pitch it right! So much of the decor out there frankly makes ME uneasy let alone impressionable 7 year olds, but the alternatives seem more appropriate for 4 year olds! I find I may have to buy stuff then CUT OFF the nasty ghoul and replace it with something less macabre which sort of defeats the object of buying in the first place! If I had all the time in the world, I'd make the props but it all adds up, cost wise and definitely time wise.

Anyone else suffering??!

Bake or buy a load of plain cookies and buy some icing pens and let them loose decorating them.

fill a large shallow dish with squirty cream and jelly worms that have to be eaten without using hands

apple bobbing

pumpkin pinata

guess the gross stuff (put spaghetti/raw egg/jelly/fake rat etc) in containers, cover with towel or get kids to wear blindfolds and get them to guess what it is.
