It's DS2 1st Birthday in 4 weeks .. we already have the regular usual toys like walkers, ride-ons, swing, slide, boucy things .. and too many other to mention. (DS1 is 2yrs old)
Does anyone have any original ideas
.. ideal budget would be about £50, no more than about £90 for the perfect present.
Any ideas appreciated!

Just get him some little cars or something - they really don't give a shit what they get aged 1! The fun is all in the cake and the opening

helium balloons, my dd loved them. we just got a few small things and then went on holiday and did lots of outings like the zoo and play centres.

Love the cardboard box idea! I do remember with DS1 that he was far more interested in the packaging than anything inside!

I do have to buy something though, it's important to me that they are both treated the same, yes, I know they don't know / won't remember etc, but that's just the way I am! :-)

We got DS2 inflatable goal posts and a big inflatable ball to play with in the living room - he has always been fascinated with football, even at 1. They're great when the weather is bad, great to put in the car when we're going away anyway and they'll last forever so we (and more importantly he) were really pleased - and it all came to about £12 from Instore.

A wheely bug, DD2 was 1 today, she got one and absolutely loves it, when she can kick DD1 (nearly 6) off it!

We bought our son a hip flask with his name and date of birth engraved on it. He got plenty of other toys from everybody else. We will give it to him "properly" when he turns 18.

My husband is Scottish though, so don't know if that will suit you.

I have just used www.mywishwand.co.uk for my dd 6th birthday, They gave me suggestions not just based on her age and gender but her interests too. We got great suggestions which we could buy immediately and it turned her birthday into a roaring success
