Have thought of making a round cake that is harrys face and putting dinodaurs around it. Sil suggested a bucket cake with plastic dinosaurs coming out the top...
There's the option of just a plain cake and [http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280251247430&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=0 18 this on top]

What would you suggest? I'm not an expert cake maker but willing to give anything a go!

Yes, if you stack up circular sponges and ice them with silver icing it could look like a bucket...?

Do a round cake
Ice it
Pile dinosaurs on it (plastic or make some icing ones if you fancy - one for each child)
Dismantle a bucket and fix the handle over the cake attaching through the icing at either side

i'd do the buckey with the dinos coming out but i'd make marzipan or icing dinos rather than plastic ones. don't make whole dinos just torsos or tails coming out of bucket

katymac do you mean so that it would just look like the top of the bucket? am loving the 'simplicity' of that idea!

oh califrau, sounds complicated for a novice [yikes]

bewilderbeast - hadn't thought of just doing 'bits' of dinosaurs - don't think i could attempt to make whole dinosaurs!

Yep just the top of the bucket

Of course if you use plastic ones they can be part of the party bag
