Just a quick whinge about RSVPs

I just need to get this off my chest. we had DD1s 5th birthday party today. We had sent out 15 invitations, got 6 responses back and were expecting 5 kids. Half the kids we were expecting didn't turn up, whilst others who hadn't RSVPd did. It was lovely to have all the children there, but its so hard catering for an indeterminate number (I ended up catering for 12, just in case) and then to have to deal with a bit of confusion on DD1s part when she doesn't understand why some people didn't show up.
Why don't people just have the courtesy to RSVP, or let you know if they can't come????

Loads of threads about this in the past. All in agreement with you. I'm just organising ds 6th birthday which is next week and not heard from 5 out of 8 people going. As we have to pre order the numbers going I've told dh if anyone turns up that hasn't replied it's tough It sounds harsh but I'm not wasting 5 quid odd per head if they don't tell me they deffo are going. I could waste £20 on maybe maybe not somebodys food.

I was just rude & sent out reminder emails asking people if they were coming - no manners here

I sent my DS invitations with RSVP to simply pick up the phone to let us know, have sent them in advance by about 5 weeks, have only had one reply out of 14!!! It drives me mad - we ended up cancelling his baptism party this year because nobody could be arsed to let us know if they were coming! It really hacks me off

Totally agree with you. If you invite someone to something formally and take thr toruble to send them an invitation it is so downright rude of them not to be arsed to reply.

Every year, the same 3 Mums never RSVP to DS1's parties, wne everyone else does respond. Really makes me cross
