DS wants 25 of his class (girls and boys)for his 5th birthday party. Am toying with the idea of an entertainer, the only one I have seen that is any good costs £120 for 1 hour. Need ideas for games and food and decor please!!

have you got a backyard? If so then hire a bouncy castle - best value for money imo. They come is all sizes so you don't have to go very large!

What about good old pass the parcle. I put a little pressie in each layer and a bigger one for the last one. That way everyone gets a little something and theres no tears. Another old fav is musical chairs? Not very cowboy and indian but it doesn't have to be. Have fun!

am just going to add that it isn't really very pc to have a 'cowboys and indians party'- .
I'd just name it a cowboys party myself
but lots of good ideas here

what about making 'wanted' posters as well with the kids, have them printed off and they can draw their own face in the middle? have seen this done

oh please, I have just moved to s'pore and I'm soooo glad to be out of the UK PC brigade. I was waiting for someone to say that.

lol quokka. I was going to say that too but bit my tongue It is ok to say cowboys & Indians in the US so why is it not PC in the UK?

its so silly! I could go on and on about various unpc things but I can't be bothered to kick off today, its too hot!

By the way I had a cowboy and indians party for my ds2 recently (in the uk) and I found it so difficult to by decorations because it was considered unpc - it just spurred me on even more to do it .

I am Canadian not British
The 'Indians' you speak of aren't called that, haven't been for a very long time, it's more acceptable and CORRECT to say Native American/Canadian, or 'First Nations People'

do you know anything about their history?
or do you just like the cutesy factor of a theme for your party?

who said it was ok to say it in the States?

I said it was ok in the US as, ime, it is generally acceptable. All I can say is that the Native Americans I know (of Hopi, Pequot & Apache descent), from several different states, use the term Indians (& occasionally Native Americans) to describe themselves, their culture and their tribes of which they are, quite rightly, very proud. I won't pretend to know everything but I do know a little about their history through reading and talking with them.

I apologise, Hana, if you are offended. I have no desire to get into an argument about the correct terminology. I accept that Native Americans is the PC term but also acknowledge that some Native Americans refer to themselves as Indians.

what a crock - a"cowboy & native american indian party" would make you look lik a twat on the invites.

in the world i live in mums would avoid people who actually put that - your kids would have no friends - except for that one with the hippy mum her child he is called star and his mum says ballerina shoes are ok and not gender specific - the point i am making is that its overly PC. not necessary.

in answer to your op. i think califrau nailed it
