Alternative party bags Pirate theme

Any ideas please guys? It's a big group (30-40), 5 year olds and I really don't want to do party bags as budget is very tight and I just know they'd be expensive and full of sweets and plastic tat that I'd hate my own kids receiving. Does anyone have any inspiration for alternatives that are acceptable and won't break the bank? Thanks lots

For my son's pirate party I bought sets of pirate picture books from the Book People. I think they were about £1.25 per book.

I'd think it was great if my child got coins instead of plastic tat! Home bargains will have some at a reasonable price if you can get to one

I went for under the sea theme and actually it's pretty nice stuff, very quick delivery and only £1.80 per bag....still a lot of money but I couldn't have done it cheaper myself very easily.

We've also been to parties where child gets a book and slice of cake - parents like this..possibly more than the children who seem to love the plastic crap and sweets combo

The coins are a great idea.

You could also buy modelling balloons and learn to make swords for them all on YouTube.

Thanks guys sounds like chocolate coins may be a winner! Will it seem stingy to just get those though? They'll get balloon models from the party entertainment too
