4 year old party timing/food?

This will be my first kid's birthday party to host. If we have the party from 10am- 12pm what food would be expected? Would it be ok to just provide croissants and fruit? I thought we could do loads so adults and siblings could have too. Or would you expect a more substantial meal at that time?

Depends what you are doing. In parties I have been at/hosted the food serves a welcome natural break that divides the first half of the party from the second. 2 hours may not seem long but time does seem to crawl. What kind of thing are you doing?

For a 4 year old party, I would expect stuff like: pizza, sausage rolls, crisps, biscuits and cake.
You can get away without feeding the Mums.
It doesn't have to be expensive or complicated. I normally just nip round TESCOs and get a selection of cheap gak.

Croissants and fruit won't go down well with a party of 4 year olds. You don't have to do a very substantial meal or anything...but you need to do something more 'kids partyish'...mini pizzas, sausage rolls, a few sandwiches, breadsticks, crudités etc

Dancingbea there would be an entertainer from around 10.30ish for an hour. So lunch at 11.30, is that too early or ok for kids? I could make the party 10.30-12.30 with the entertainer starting at 10.45

So what's the deal with feeding siblings? There'd likely be quite a few, mainly younger siblings

Oh and the party would be in a community hall. Would it be fine to do a "carpet picnic" or are tables and chairs required?
I'm kind of dreading the whole thing apart from the entertainer who is awesome.
Want to keep everything else as simple as possible

I think earlylunch at 1130 would be perfect. A few sandwiches, fruit, crisps etc, you're done. Enjoy!
