8 year old dd sleepover party

DD1 is having 5 friends over for a sleepover party for her 8th birthday. DD2 (5yo) will also be there. What do I need to do?

I am doing pizza, veg, chips for tea soon after they arrive.

We’ve got bean boozled to play though I doubt they’ll be brave enough.
I’ve also got pie face.
Do I need to plan a craft activity?

I’ll download a film to watch later with birthday cake, popcorn, pretzels, sweets and maybe cut up fruit. Any ideas what film would be good?

I’ve got a blow up double bed, a single camp bed mattress, 2 sofas. Should I drag a mattress or 2 down from the DDs bedrooms? I’ve got spare pillows and duvets if someone forgets a sleeping bag.

I have cereal, toast and jam for breakfast.

I’ve got water and squash for drinks.

I have contact phone numbers for all the parents.

What else do I need to do? I’m a single parent so will be doing this alone.

You could think of a theme that could make it more fun
Baking a great activity for young girls
You could all make pancakes in the morning or all make a birthday cake
Although you obviously want something to keep them busy also try and give them done time to chat or play truth or dare etc

Is anyone else bringing a mattress as with 5 friends and two DDs you don't seem to have enough beds! You'll definitely need to bring your DDs mattresses down.

Don't be afraid to tell them to be quiet or "it's time to sleep now" as tired children make for fractious children. I had 6 teenagers over all sleeping in our lounge and by midnight I went down and said "right, come on now it's time to sleep" as our room was above lounge and they all settled down and slept (fitbit said 7 hours+) so they don't mind guidance at all.

Have some water bottles in the lounge as kids get thirsty at night and possibly a night light in hall or behind a sofa so it's not pitch dark. Remind them to all go to the loo!

I try and do easy breakfast stuff as they will be up early as once one wakes they all do: pain au chocolate, croissants etc in oven and cut up fruit platter. That way they can eat where they like if you don't have a big enough table. Individual fruit drink cartons are ideal to minimise spillage - Aldi do them v reasonable.

What about making friendship bracelets as a craft. Not messy and they can do it while chatting.

DD has always had sleepovers for birthdays. Still wants them now at 14!

I've found that even at 8 they tend to occupy themselves. At that age they all brought their own sleeping bags and pillows and we put sofa cushions and mattresses on the floor. (They'd done it themselves a previous year!).

What went down well was plain white T shirts and fabric pens. They made their own designs, I ironed them on then they slept in them.

Lots of choices of DVD to play plus popcorn and a tub of Heroes. And I second the cartons/plastic bottles of drink (the only time we have them). Good luck.

Good point about mattresses. I’ll bring them down or ask if anyone has spares. One of the sofas is probably long enough for 2 to top and tail.
