40th bday party ideas

We went to a good one at a restaurant with karaoke recently. Another friend got everyone to a vineyard (in the UK) for wine tasting. Mine is one of the last of my friends and I would quite like a celebration but don't want people to have to spend lots of money and don't want to do something in the daytime that excludes kids. So either a day thing that kids can do too or an evening thing that is fun but doesn't cost too much. Will probably just end up doing a party in a bar. But interested in ideas...

The only thing that works for us for DH Ina few months time is daytime BBQ at ours, kids go home and then we have a party. Don't want anyone to have to pay and we all have small kids.

When is your birthday? DH turns 40 this year nd I've had to send save the date type texts to friends today as his birthday falls on a Bank holiday weekend.
We could brainstorm some ideas together here if you like?
