It is my son's birthday in first week in July. I have booked a soft play venue. With half term coming up, l was thinking maybe hand out invites next week? I have the feeling l will have to fill in the gaps in order to meet the minimum because he is very quiet and has been excluded from most of the parties in his class. Personally, l would have skipped it this year but he has insisted on celebrating his special day with his friends. At least the sooner people get back to me, the sooner l will know who to invite to replace the children who can't come. My question is, is it too early to hand out invites next week?

I think it's better to hand them out early - I think you get more coming, as they haven't got other things already arranged. Then if I were you I would store the numbers of the parents who reply, and send out a little reminder the week before hand (you can always include a question, say about food allergies, or a reminder about parking or something like that to do with the venue - it doesn't just have to be a stark reminder).
Hope he gets lots of friends coming, bless him. You may find after this he gets more invites, as I think people often reciprocate.
