Any ideas for 30th birthday celebrations?

Please can anyone help with ideas for my 30th birthday. I was intending to have a party, but after pricing it can't really afford it so now need to think of something else, thought about a meal at TGI's, but we've been there quite a few times, we live in Twickenham so could easily travel into London, but need somewhere that dcs would enjoy, MIL is also coming to stay around my birthday so even if I only invite close family there will be 11 adults and 2 children.

Thanks.

For 11 adults and 2 kids, why don't you have a home party? Just do a buffet and get the wine in

Mine's at the beginning of February so I need to decide quite soon, I should have started saving last year as it was obvious we wouldn't have much spare cash so soon after christmas.

I might have a party at home, then I could invite a few more people.

or the meal would be good idea if you want grown ups only, so long as you could get babysitters?

If you had it at home the kids could attend for a while then be put to bed.

I went to Paris for my 30th, I left the children with their grandparents.

You could also get a babysitter to come to the house and put them to bed for you.

I used the inlaws big house for my 30th and in laws stayed at ours and looked after the children. It was brilliant I just did a simple buffet and the rope swing in the garden caused much hilarity as did ps2 karaoke!

You could also go somewhere nicer than TGI's. Somewhere that has a function room so its not a big deal if there is kids.

Why not throw one party for both, you could do it anytime in between then so it means you could wait for summer and have a big barbque or something.

Thanks for the ideas, I might have a look at the giraffe website as I think there is one near us.
