box of tissues, banana peel, remote control to name a few Grin

Our DD's just turned 1 and I made a cot quilt for her, which took ages - you could buy one and personalize it with her name.

A lovely lunchbox from my mum - which I choose..not that she needs it, but I couldn't resist

she actually loves playing with a v-tech learning to walk toy type thing - she stand up at pushes it in front of her, lots of fun, noises and flashy lights. we bought this for our now 3-year-old son's 1st birthday.

lego duplo is another favourite, especially the animals, she just loves holding them.

Push along things - we have a blue buggy I got on ebay which is still popular over a year later.
I got DD a trike from Mothercare for her 1st and a wooden swing set for the garden. Both have been used extensively. The trike is her fave mode of transport (20mo) and she cried bloody murder when winter came and I wouldn't put her in it for fear of rain! Get one with a sun shade though as they can be in them for ages!
