Hi
we are having a small party for DS 4th birthday at home on sat- small party means 8 children including ours, aged from 2 to 6.

Never had a party for him before - pls give me some ideas, games, food, timings etc.

Parents will also be there, so what should we feed them / give them to drink?

Time is a bit odd- 2 til 4ish- so too late for lunch too early for dinner.

All ideas gratefully recevied! Thanks.

Run it as an ordinary kids party and the adults will just fit round it. Just make sure you have the kettle on and/or bottle of wine open!
For the kids make sure you keep them occupied as much as you can or else your house may suffer.
Have you got a theme? I remember doing a pirate-based party for my DS at that age. Usual party games but with a pirate twiat if you can work it in! musical chairs/bumps/statues
pin the parrot on the pirate
a treasure hunt of some sort
definitely pass the parcel
Perhaps a craft activity - making a pirate hat, cutlass, eye patch, parrot?
aim for tea at about 3.15-3.30
Depends on your views of food, but personally I always feel parties are for fun so have some crisps, cakes, bicuits along with little sandwiches, cocktail sausages, carrot/celery/cucmber sticks, grapes, cherry tomatoes and raisins.
Don't forget the birthday cake!!
HTH and have fun!
