25 year old daughter

I have a 25 old daughter who is extra sensitive. She is slightly overweight so conscious of that. She has always been like that from school to uni etc. I knew she was struggling socially in making friends. She has couple of good friends but every so often she is down and upset. I have tried speaking to her and so has my husband and also offered to pay for counselling. She is not listening and it’s worrying us. Sometimes she sits in her room for hours and doesn’t speak to anyone.
She has a good job and doing well there.
I feel helpless !!!!

Does she talk to you about how she feels? A trip to the GP would probably be a good idea. They could check for anything which could be making her feel down.

Sorry, I see she probably doesn't talk much about it.

She speaks to me sometimes but most of the time its a guessing game with her. I have made GP appt for her and she went once. GP gave her a leaflet to see someone but she never did.
I was thinking, may be travelling? Going with solo people her age group and make new friends. New people, new environment?
Running out of suggestions for her!

What is she doing when she sits in her room for hours? She may just like her own company sometimes. My kids always spent most of there time in their rooms watching tv, Internet, gaming, doing hobbies. Is she an introvert and actually likes time alone. She has a few good friends which is more than most. You don't need lots of friends in life.

She is on her Ipad etc. But she is the type who does like more friends.

When she seems down and upset, is it about something specific? Or is it a general negative/sad view of everything? How often does it come and go?

it is always something. As she is extra sensitive she seems to take thing s to heart and not able to speak out or defend herself. This makes her angry/sad and it is more so few days before her periods.

Your dd needs to move out and experience life as an adult.

Yes, does she have plans to move out at some point?
