Is this normal?

I'm planning on leaving my family home.

My partner has 4 adult children. The eldest is married and expecting a baby at age 23.

Her and her husband want to spend every available minute in our home being waited on. They have a home of their own.

The other kids are 21, 20 and 16.

They too want to sit at home all day and night. Even if they get jobs or go to college, all their free time is spent sitting with us.

I keep thinking it's so abnormal. Of course, lots of people have told me I'm just a nasty step mother for not being happy I'm spending every minute of my free time with them.

Well, it's not normal in my world.
I'd feel disappointed if my dc aged between 16 and 23 had nothing better to do with their time than sit and watch TV with their Dad and step mum, tbh.
That said, there are people that live like that.
I think it's a pretty sad way to exist, not having any hobbies or friends you spend time with, or things you belong to.

My Ds 23 & 21 never come home, our WiFi is too slow.

Ds 17 is always here with friends.

Be glad they are at home not causing trouble but say to them- brink some snacks and drinks and basically make their own food. Talk to hubby and agree some rules.
Tell him it’s not a rejection of his kids but that you want them to be a bit independent and that you want some space. I’d be not cooking meals and I’d be saying if you want a drink you know where the fridge is.
