Teething and mild temperature

Is this normal? He's been teething since he was 4 months the poor thing, has 12 teeth and I think about another 3 molars coming through all at once.

Administered medist and calgel. His neck is very hot but his brow is normal. he's 9-10 months.

DS does this - he gets "hot head" when he's teething.

Poor little monkeys. Awful isn't it. I'm glad they will forget.

IME i was always told to check neck for temp, but my dd who is now over two years gets an incredibly hot neck whilst sleeping and the rest of her stays fine..keep a close eye..you could try medised*but not with other paracetamol based medicines***..this worked wonders, it contains an anti histemine so lowers temp and helps aid sleep...otherwise, check with gp in morning.good luck

Thanks Hunker

He's had some Medised Evesmama, although he hates the taste of it. I had to chase him around the cot! He's just so restless too, not sleeping very well. Thanks.

I still panic when he gets hot.

hunkermunker Tue 16-Aug-05 21:21:43

I know what you mean, MT. DS's temperature has been sky-high when he's had UTIs (40.9 at its peak ) - so if he gets hot when he's teething, I don't like it one bit!

Hope your DS is better soon - mine makes a real meal of cutting teeth (his gums bleed, etc). He has 12 now and is getting evil canines

oi, Baboon pants....

I think you breastfeed don't you? Have you ever given him a bottle? (expressed/formula/drain water)

Medised tastes lovely in milk. Think strawberry milk, but not quite so strong. I often lull myself to sleep with a bottle. Doesn't half show up in my moustache if I drink from a glass

I do BF Serah. Lil' Monkey's having none of that solid food palaver or milk from a plastic receptacle today. His little hairy finders are well and truly wound into my hirsute sides. (Though he's napping in the high canopy at the mo) But maybe if necked the whole bottle of medised I could pass on that crucial 2%! Could be passive parenting classic

Seriously though, had an awful night. He's in such distress and it hasn't abated this morning, though no signs of blood yet Hunker (my I feel for you ). And 40.9! You must've been frantic. Forgive my ignorance though but what are UITs?

serah Wed 17-Aug-05 20:45:54

Have you tried him on Ashtons and Parsons too Monkey. It really soothes DS if he's having a bad'un. You can give up to one sachet an hour.

Its a shitty phase - and its awful when they don't get a good nights sleep, because neither does mummy

Hope tonight is better for you both!

hunkermunker Wed 17-Aug-05 20:49:38

MT, see my thread today re temp of nearly 41 DS not a happy chap today at all

Sorry you had a rough night - this teething lark isn't fun, is it?

UTI is a urinary tract infection - not pleasant things

monkeytrousers Thu 18-Aug-05 09:22:51

Well after 2 days and nights it seems to have passed. He's back to his usual chirpy self this morning, but now we know what to expect for teh next molar.

I'll give that a go Serah, cheers. Can he take it with calpol?

Gonna have a look for your thread now Hunker.

Thanks lovelies

serah Thu 18-Aug-05 09:32:40

As far as I'm aware, minimonkey will be able to take it with anything as its a homeopathic remedy - and it actually works! You can buy it just about anywhere, which shows how popular it is!! (No, not Dewhursts before you say it!!!)

Glad he's a bit more chipper today!

I can't find your thread Hunker. Which board is it on?

It's here, MT - he seems much better this am, thank goodness...
