What would you/have you paid for a clown or magician or some other entertainer at your child's party?

ninah Tue 16-Aug-05 15:11:12

apart to pay £90 for one hour of magic, juggling etc
should I be more of a joyless puritan?

Depends on the magician. Some of them are well worth the money.

he comes recommended and sounds really nice (rang up a lot and one or two sounded a bit off-putting on the answerphone iykwim)
i think it will be worth it

Good for you. Stick to your guns.

I paid £130 last year for an entertainer, he did a disco, games and a puppet show, he lasted for about 1 1/2 hours.

Do these entertainers have lots of kit eg costumes etc? And do they provide any other services (food, party bags)?

depends where you are.
I paid £60 for a fab magic lady she did half an hour of magic and half an hour of games includign pass the parcel with prizes, balloon animal for every child (there were 30+) and was fab.
She is cheap tho!
(PS I am a joyless puritan too).
Would pay more than that tbh, kep t the kids rapt.

150 quid in manchester for 2 hours with load of presents for kids... a lot but she was amazing and had an assistant who helped out... we sat in kitchen and drank wine... money well spent!!

he's not that frightening at all - he always does the Sure Start/Home Start fun days in the park near us, and the kids LOVE him.
