10 month old boy...for a week now been doing big voms. No diarrhoea. Some days no vomiting, today twice. Doesn't seem distressed - they just come on suddenly and bleagh...chucks up a big load, mainly milk it seems...

Anyone else having this? Any thoughts?

mm not sure - how soon after eating does it happen? Does he have any excema or any other symptoms at all?

I and ds and dd do this when it gets hot due to low heat resistance, what sort of coloring does your ds have op.

He was just sick in his cot. Was sick again today before as well.

Tends to happen at irregular times, sometimes when eating, afterwards, tonight he hadn't eaten for a few hours.

He is quite pale coloured, gingerish/blonde hair. It did start around when the weather got hotter.

Check this out

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_vomiting_syndrome

I considered this because my daughter used to vomit a lot but it has stopped now, its just a thought.

OnEdge, beat me to it - cyclical vomiting is more common than realised.

It could be the heat then or it could be the cyclical vomiting, I know we only be sick on days when the temperature increases. So if it is 25 today we won't be sick till it goes up to 26.

How is he today, Coolfonz?

If he is still vomiting then get to the docs and get him checked out. It is likely just a virus but with such a wee one, it is better to see a doc.

He hasn't been sick today.
He's gone out to visit his Grandad with his Mum so we'll see.

It doesn't really seem to bother him when he does it, his poo is a bit mustardy coloured...it's just a bit odd...

It doesn't sound like CVS. We are talking one vom a day average, rest of the time he seems fine...

I guess it's a bug he hasn't shaken off. I'm going to bleach the entire house today when he's out...

Can you think of anything he has eaten on the day he vomits that he hasn't on other days?

My dd1 (4) so a lot older than your ds went through this a few months ago and I realised it was on days when she had eaten Weetabix.

She had a mild reaction to it as a toddler so hadn't had it for a couple of years but I bought it for dd2 and dd1 ate it a few times and loved it but she obviously still reacts to it.

Could it be something like that with your ds?

Hmm...well I guess it could be. We do give him Weetabix in the morning - but we've done that for a while now, well before he started to puke.

It seems like a bug, but it's odd it has been going on for 6 days now (assuming he pukes up sometime today) I would have thought it would be over sooner...also he doesn't have runny poos...so it doesn't seem to be gastro...

Try avoiding dairy as much as can.

When ds -14mo is sick we cut out dairy and stick to banana ,rice, apple (cooked) and toast. We do this for 24-48h depending on how poorly he is.
When he was younger we gave watered down formula. Now we do water or watery milk.

I would get checked by dr just in case.

The DS of a friend of mine had a similar bug about a month ago. He was sick on and off for about a week or so. Very strange, and none of the others in the family got it.

Don't worry everyone I will take him to the docs tomorrow if he is sick again.

The advice about the diet from Mrs Flux is good stuff (although NHS Direct told us not to water down his milky )

The funny thing about it is, he's just doing his thing, pukes, and just carries on as if nothing has happened...

da da da da da BLEAGHHHH!! da da da da

How is he doing today, Coolfonz?

Strange how it does not really affect them. They just get on with their day.

My DD does this with a chest infection/heavy cold. Its like the phlegm builds up in stomach and she just has to get rid of it.

Seems fine after.

Hope he is ok today.

coolfonz I will be watching this with interest as I was about to post on exactly the same thing, my ds is 11 months and been sick at least once a day since Friday, quite happy, tonight at dinner he ate half of it no problems then gagged, threw it up (and some!) then came back to table 5 mins later and finished his dinner and pudding! quite happy, its really weird! He hasn't had any milk today either as keeps refusing it - I figured he knows whats best for him... like your ds, no diarrhoea just sick.
How was your ds today?
