Please don't laugh, but is this normal? She is 4weeks old and going bald from the forehead back (like a bloke) The rest of her hair is about 15mm long and seems to be getting thicker, but the entire front of her head is almost entirely bald.

Yes, it's normal. The hair from the womb falls out and then is replaced with her own hair.

all of my babies have losttheir hair atthe back of their head in the first few months. I assumed it was because their hair was so fine and delicate it rubbed off when they were in their cot. It grew back as they got a little bigger.

Does that part of her hair come in regular contact with anything

DH was born with a lovely head of straight brown hair - within 2 weeks it had all fallen out and he was bald for about 4 months!

Eventually it grew back blond, curly and very thick so don't worry!

Normal for some babies; DD1 was born with a full head of hair & started falling out at about 3 months iirc.

She was left with a tuft on the top which looked ridiculous. I was so distraught about the hair loss I couldn't see that we needed to cut off the tuft - looking back at photos now makes me no-one said anything either although when I mention it now they agree Think I must have been scary pfb mother!!

Anyway it grew back slightly lighter but did take a while.

Should add she also lost hair on the back of her head where it rubbed when she was lying on her back but above hair loss was different.
DD2 was born with a similar amount of hair & I had prepared myself for it to fall out this time but it never did, still got the bald patch where it had rubbed off on the back though

DS1 was born with a full head of hair, fell out within a couple of months then grew back very blond & very curly. He still has lots of hair at 16, but now chooses to keep it to a minimum for cadets, much to his nana's disgust

I was expecting the hair loss at the back with DD at around that age as had seen it in other family babies. However, I WAS NOT expecting it at the front, in the middle....she spent a good month or more looking like Barry Evans. We don't show people those pictures

but meant to say, yes, it came back and she has lovely hair these days, not a combover in sight!

I'm sure your little one will be just the same
